...about keeping his trap shut, that is.
Bode Miller, one of the U.S. ski team’s best prospects in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Turin, most recently came under scrutiny after making comments in a 60 Minutes interview that implied he’s been "wasted" during competitions after partying the night before.
And, he’s done it again.
Now in a Rolling Stone interview, due to hit the stands today, Bode makes comments that imply he believes Barry Bonds and Lance Armstrong took performance-enhancing drugs. (side note: I have no doubt about Bonds, but Lance I’m not so sure about.)
On the one hand, I admire Bode Miller for his straightforward manner and candid approach. It’s somewhat refreshing actually. But from a PR point of view, I’d hate to be in his publicist’s shoes.
I guess some people just aren’t meant to be media trained. It would go against Bode’s grain to go by the book and say things that won’t upset his sponsors and those that look up to him as a role model. If he can’t tell it like it is, then he’s not telling at all.
And quite frankly, that’s part of the aura and charm that surrounds Bode.
One thing’s for sure. Today won’t be the last time we’re shaking our head at Bode’s off-the-cuff comments.
