Those wacky Spiridellis brothers have done it again.
No, I'm not talking exclusively about their music/video parodies, but more of their ability to drum up a monstrous PR campaign.
JibJab's next video, "2-0-5" will make its world premiere on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" this evening. After that, the video will air on MSNVideo.com for free.
In the two-minute video, a cut-out George Bush sings about his hope that the year 2006 turns out better than "2-0-5". The music is based on a medley of "Auld Lang Syne" (the New Year's Eve song) and "Turkey in the Straw."
It's amazing the type of media coverage Gregg and Evan Spiridellis have generated over the past two years. They founded their creative studio in Brooklyn six years ago and produced two hysterical spoofs of the 2004 presidential election. Those videos were seen over 80 million times.
Since then, JibJab has gone from two siblings bangin' around on their computer to a household brand.
This latest PR effort is an inspirational example of what a lot of creativity and planning can do for even the smallest companies.
