It looks like Tom Cruise has officially passed the "Hollywood Stars Gone Cuckoo" torch to Bruce Willis.
That's because Willis publicly offered $1 million for information leading to the capture or killing of Osama Bin Laden, Ayman Al-Zawahiri or Abu Musab al- Zarqawi.
Which begs the question: "Whatchou talkin' about, Willis?!"
Doesn't he know that the United States government offered a $25 million reward for Bin Laden's capture back in 2002? If so, does he honestly believe that a well-connected terrorist has been holding out for a $26 million dollar reward and, thanks to Willis' bounty, he'll start talking now?
Willis is a rare conservative Hollywood A-lister who supports the war in Iraq. He's outraged by the anti-war bias of the United States media and is planning to produce a new film about our troops liberating the Iraqi people.
(Somewhere right now, Michael Moore is giddy.)
I applaud Willis for being honest and passionate about expressing his beliefs, but Hollywood stars are more marketable and appealing when they're, well...dull.
Look at what happened to Cruise. Soon after hiring his sister in 2004 to be his publicist, he went from being one of the least substantive interview subjects to railing against psychiatry and going gaga for the actress from "Dawson's Creek."
And the recent dismissal of his sister—coupled with the appointment of veteran publicist Paul Bloch—is a clear signal that Cruise realized his opinionated outbursts weren't stellar PR moves.
Hopefully Willis can see the same light that guided Cruise back to sanity. Or else John McClane just might go after Bin Laden.
